Whitebait

On Sunday my brother and I went whitebaiting with my Grandparents. We got quite a bit enough for everyone to have a whitebait pattie.

It must be satisfying to catch supper and be able to feed the family. The photo looks delicious! I'm in Montreal in Canada. I don't live near the ocean.
I enjoyed your post.

Just got home and had a look at your blog, I'm so hungry now. Sounds as if you had a super time. So cool to be able to catch your own meal. Keep it going super blogging.

Nice blog! My son is 7, and he started a blog this summer, but has not written much since school started. We live in southern MO, USA and fish a lot, but I must say I have never heard of whitebait. Do you catch them with a pole or a net? What do you use for bait? What does the fish look like?

Kyle, What an amazing blog! My son is 7, and he started a blog this summer, but has not written much since school started.
I live in an area surrounded by lakes, and we fish often, but I must say that I have never hear of a whitebait before. I am going to have to google for a picture of what the fish looks like. I would love to hear more about it...do you fish with a pole or a net? Are they small fish? What do you use for bait?

I live in New Jersey, USA. I enjoyed your blog entry. Do you fish for whitebait with a fishing rod? Are they big or small?

It must be great fun to catch your own meal.did it take a long time to catch enough. I'm not familiar with whitebait. I live in New Hampshire, USA. I'm very fond of fish, especially fresh fish!

Great job on your writing as well.

Miss K told me you had written a blog post, so I had to come and have a look. I think whitebait fritters are yum! What a lucky boy. Did you have to wait for a long time for the whitebait to swim into your net? Well done on your blog post, fabulous work.

Sounds like a great day!

Were the patties as tasty as they look?

Wow, that is such a cool thing to do. I'm hoping to take my boy next year. You think a 3 year old would enjoy the experience?

What a great whitebait pattie! It's a long time since I had whitebait. Did you have fun catching them?

My Granddad used to take me whitebaiting too - but that was a long time ago now. My dad used to tease me and tell me we had to "gut" the whitebait before we could eat them. I haven't tasted a whitebait fritter in such a long time that the wonderful picture Miss K added for you has my mouth watering!

Great post there Kyle.

I added a photo for you in case your overseas readers didn't know what a whitebait fritter looked like.

I spent many happy days as a kid looking for whitebait in the Maitai River. We took forever to catch enough for a fritter so we used to feed them to the dog because we only used to catch about 20 at a time.
